"THEY COME BACK" - PROJECT LIONHEART
We decided early on in this project to stay away from the traditional hip hop video stereotypes - flashy cars, money waving machismo and half naked women. Instead, we wanted to explore a more substantive type of imagery - something that was more relatable, relevant and engaging to our target audience. What we came up with was a portrait of perseverance that is as powerful as it is tragic- from the perspective of the artist as a struggling musician and father, to his fans who must each reconcile tragedy and abuse in their own lives. "They Come Back" was featured on the soundtrack of the hit videogame NBA 2k12.
"HANG YOU ON THE WALL" - NIGHTMARE FORTRESS
Our concept here was to compliment the bands dark industrial synth sound with an equally disturbing narrative - a serial killer that collects dolls made in the likenesses of his victims. We enjoy being pushed creatively to explore genres, narratives and themes that are generally outside our typical body of work. This was a fun project to shoot and for once all of the sweat, blood and tears stayed in front of the camera.
"ROCK N' ROLLIN' LOVE" - AFROMENTAL
This epic minute music video was created for one of Poland's most popular bands and the winner of MTV's 2010 Best European Act Award. Set in Warsaw during the 1960's, the video pokes fun at traditional Polish music and the Communist era, while presenting Afromental as a band that rebels against it's own commercial success (the song they sing as " The Red Mustacheers" is actually a reworked version of their first pop single that propelled them to fame, "Pray 4 Love"). The video currently has over 4.5 million hits on youtube.
"LET'S DANCE" - HI_TACK
This was our first international project for a European agency and record label. As a remix of David Bowie's classic pop hit we wanted to be sure we did justice to all of the parties involved while creating something fresh, hip and entertaining. With a delivery deadline of two weeks from the greenlight, we cast an amazing team of dancers and choreographers, constructed a subway set, organized a fashion show with top local designers, secured an entire office floor in the Columbia Tower - Seattle's tallest building - and shot, edited and delivered on time. The video hit #1 on MTV's Galaxy Chart and Dancefloor Chart for several weeks running.
"LOOK A LITTLE DEEPER" - SXY
We were commissioned by local artist SXY to create a promo for her single "Look A Little Deeper". Drawing inspiration from low-tech sci fi movies, we came up with the concept of transforming the artist into an android whose heart is being repaired by a scientist whose motivations go much deeper than science. A shoot from the early days of digital cinema - it was one of the first productions in the Northwest to be shot with the RED ONE camera.
"IF WISHES WERE HORSES" - STAR ANNA AND THE LAUGHING DOGS
We were commissioned by a small local record label called Malamute Records to create a promo for their then-emerging young artist Star Anna's first single. Inspired by the Ellensburg native's soulful lyrics and picturesque hometown, we spent several days shooting on location with the band, capturing fragments of their lives and neighborhoods. The video eventually garnered national attention when it began playing in rotation on CMT's Pure Country channel. Several years and many albums later, as Star and her band frequently play large arenas on national tours with the likes of Pearl Jam, we like to look back on this video and remember how we helped contribute to the bands modest beginnings.
"THE PLAN" - THE MOB LAW
Our music video reel wouldn't be complete without a classic, gritty, punk-rock-party video. Shot on 35mm film cameras with expired film stock to give it a pacific northwest grunge vibe, we're pretty sure the band and their fans had a great time on this shoot. WARNING: Many pieces of furniture were harmed during the making of this video.
"KEEP IT IN YOUR MOUTH" - KEMYST
Des Moines, Iowa's answer to Slim Shady has arrived in the form of Kemyst, an outspoken wordsmith whose edgy style and undeniable stage presence are showcased in this official music video for the first single off of his forthcoming debut album "Clinical Trial". Our concept pushes the artists chemistry theme a step further by incorporating concepts from the classic tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
